Belfast filmmaker Marcus Robinson has crafted a delightful short film (8 mins) around the 2015 Cyprus Avenue concerts. Based in New York, Marcus specialises in blending time lapse techniques with deeply personal reflections and holds a BAFTA for his Channel 4 film 'Rebuilding the World Trade Centre'.
In his new short film 'Always Now' Marcus's enduring love of Belfast and its people is channelled through the energy of the preparations for Van's Birthday concerts. He picks the live performance of Hyndford Street with its roll call of Belfast landmarks to reflect the shared sense of place and its impact on local and far travelled fans.
The transformation of suburban avenue with local voices to concert venue with joyful tributes from international fans is a celebration of Belfast as it is and how it can be.
