Acclaimed Northern Irish musician Van Morrison has a new album on the way 53 years into his career. Keep Me Singing will be released on 30 September and will serve as Van's 36th studio record.
He spoke to novelist Ian Rankin (Rebus) in an interview surrounding the release and you can view the video below, which also includes live performances at Nells
Reflecting upon his previous releases, Van - who states he's an artist who likes to evolve - tells Rankin: "Well, you're competing against what you've done previously."
Van's most famous albums include Astral Weeks and Moondance. He explains how he prefers to record his new records the old-fashioned way as opposed to digitally.
"It actually takes much longer working with digital and computers because the new kids on the block don't really understand about liverecording," he says. "In fact, it freaks them out."
"Performing is acting - it's a bit like if you're in a theatre; what I'm doing is basically a form of psychodrama but actually through music."
Van Morrison will release his brand new album ‘Keep Me Singing’ on September 30th on CD, Gatefold Vinyl & download. You can pre-order the album on CD/Vinyl + Lithograph from the official store here: http://po.st/KeepMeSingingStore
